MakerDAO pays yield to users who deposit Dai into the Dai Savings Rate (DSR) module. DSR yield is funded by the MakerDAO protocol's excess reserves, generated by fees paid by overcollateralized borrowers on the Maker protocol who borrow through collateralized debt positions ("CDPs").
